The brightly-colored double flowers of Scabiosa atropurpurea, the pincushion flower, are large, intricate flowers that are often used in bouquets because of their size and color. They make great cut flowers and they dress up any outdoor garden. The plants grow up to 3 feet in height and grow to about 9” in width. The plants bloom with flowers that are 3” tall and 3” wide that are covered in spiky, ruffled petals, giving it its pincushion nickname.

The pincushion flower has been cultivated in Europe for centuries for its beautiful blooms as well as its garden benefits.
