100 Majorette Hollyhock Seeds

The majorette hollyhock is a biennial plant that has double and semi-double blooms that reflect the plant’s festive name. They resemble the colorful pom poms that are carried by majorettes, and they can make a flower garden just as festive as a parade. With large, showy blooms and thick, straight stems, majorette hollyhocks make excellent cut flowers. The frilly petals make this flower stand out even among other cut flowers. Outdoors, these plants will attract butterflies to your garden. Unlike the larger varieties of the plant, these plants can be used as a border flower and are compact enough to be grown in containers.

Plant majorette hollyhock seeds in zones 3 through 9. The seeds should be planted outdoors as soon as the threat of frost is over. As a biennial, plants that are started late in the year will bloom in the second year. To get first-year blooms, plant early in the spring or start the seeds indoors and transplant them outdoors as soon as it is possible. Plant the seeds in full sunlight in soil that drains well. Surface sow or sprinkle the seeds lightly with soil or compost. Majorette hollyhocks will tolerate sandy soils. Water regularly, keeping the soil slightly moist. The color mix includes maroon, pink, red, white and yellow. Seeds are packaged and germination tested for current year.
