Flower Garden Ideas

by Jeff Dahlberg on November 9, 2008

Here are a few ideas I have tried in my flower garden. Flower gardens are made up of a beautiful variety of flowers. That doesn’t mean, however, that all of them have to be growing from the ground or that they have to stay at ground level. There are many ways to vary a flower garden to give it more depth and to make taking care of it more convenient. To create this depth, plants of many different sizes can be planted, or the height can be created in other ways.

Any garden can be accessorized by a few containers of flowers set in strategic locations. These containers allow the gardener to move the flowers around for a different look- something you can’t do with the more permanent members of the garden. Growing a few flowers in containers also gives the garden an interesting new dimension. With different sizes and heights of containers, the garden will have layers and heights that it would not have otherwise had.

To get height in a different way, provide a trellis for vines or creeping plants. This allows these plants to grow to new heights and to provide the garden with a new visual dimension. It’s also easy to care for climbing plants as they rarely if ever need pruning.
